Words of Encouragement

1 Thes. 5:10-11


He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.


Think about all the moments when you've needed encouragement, someone to tell you it's gonna be ok and you'll make it. Now think about how lack of encouragement affected you, and how moments when you were encouraged affected you differently. God calls us to live in Christ and show his love by building others up. One little word of encouragement can change a persons life sometimes. Think of ways of how you can build others up in Christ, and think of people who need to be built up in Christ. Once you start building others up in Christ, you'll find that you yourself are being built up in Christ too.

Talk to God about how encouragement or lack of encouragement has affected you. If you feel Him leading you, commit your life to live for him and to build others up in Christ. And ask God to lay on your heart anyone who is in need of encouragement- you'll be surpised who He brings into your life and the impact that encouragement will have on both you and the person you are building up.
